Peer Support Network – Becoming Part of the Network
Supporting those who support others across Saskatchewan
First—just so you know
There’s no cost—everything we offer to support peer groups is completely free.
No pressure.
No expectations placed on you beyond what you’re willing to give.
We’re simply trying to build a community of people who care about peer support—so none of us have to do this work alone.
You don’t have to be perfect.
You don’t have to have it all figured out.
If you’ve been showing up for others, you already understand what this is about.
What We’re Building
The Peer Support Network exists to strengthen and support peer-led groups across Saskatchewan.
That means:
- Encouraging the people who are already doing the work
- Supporting new group leaders as they get started
- Creating a space where leaders can connect, share, and learn from each other
Who This Is For
You might be a fit if:
You’ve been involved in peer support
- You’re currently leading a group, or have in the past
- You’ve spent some time walking alongside others in a peer setting
- You’ve been thinking about starting a group and don’t want to do it alone
(If you’re unsure if you “qualify,” you probably do. We can always talk it through.)
You’re open to learning and growing
- None of us have this figured out completely
- We offer training opportunities and resources if you want them
- You take what’s helpful and leave the rest
You’re aligned with what we’re trying to do
- Expanding access to peer support across Saskatchewan
- Supporting group leaders so they can keep going
- Building something that is community-driven, not system-driven
You understand the heart of peer support
- You lead with respect, not judgment
- You listen more than you try to solve
- You believe people can find their own way forward with the right support
- You have a desire to empower others to choose their own path
- You help draw out possibilities, offering encouragement along the way
- You understand the value of gentle accountability—encouraging small, meaningful steps forward
A Quick Word on Lived Experience
Lived experience in mental health and addictions can be incredibly valuable—but it’s not a requirement.
At its heart, lived experience is simply a willingness to share your story alongside someone else’s story.
We all have experiences that have shaped us. And often, it’s those very experiences that allow us to connect in a real and meaningful way.
What matters most is:
- Your ability to connect with people
- Your willingness to support others respectfully
- Your openness to understanding what peer support is (and isn’t)—and we’re here to help with that clarity along the way
How This Works
You remain fully in control of your group.
Always.
This network exists to support what you’re already doing—not change it.
- You decide what your group looks like
- You decide how involved you want to be
- You take what’s helpful and leave what’s not
Along the way, you’ll have:
- Other facilitators you can connect with and share experiences
- A network of people who understand what it’s like to lead a group
- Access to mentors who can help talk through specific situations when things get challenging
We’re simply here to walk alongside you—offering support, connection, and guidance when you need it.
Nothing more.
If You’re Interested
We’ll ask for a bit of information so we can get to know you and understand your experience.
Nothing complicated.
And if you’re not sure yet, that’s okay too.
